Blurring the lines between irony and social criticism, Arndt explores the consumerist and opulent aesthetics of our digital age. Her quick and lively paintings depict everyday life made up of appearances, sports, workouts, tanning and food, revealing the collective anxiety of “wanting to be perfect”.
With a deliberately fast pictorial language, the artist reflects on the naivety with which people seek escape and recognition, transforming ordinary moments into a “social” spectacle, often far removed from reality.

Born in Germany and now living in Berlin and Barcelona, Katharina Arndt has exhibited her work in international galleries and museums. Her work carefully observes and analyses human sociology, highlighting the dynamics of our desire to appear.

We are voyeurs, looking through Katharina’s lens, which accentuates the absurdity and madness of our constant mutual exhibition, in public, digitally and now in these accomplished paintings.
